In vivo studies are conducted in tobacco product research to address research activities that cannot be addressed using alternative approaches such as in vitro. Such studies may focus on tobacco product effects on biological processes such as inhalation, pharmacological behavior, toxicity related to reproduction and development, and dose ranging.
