In many population models, the simulation starts with an initial population that reflects the sex, age, race/ethnicity and prevalence of tobacco product use behavior (never, current, former dual use, polytobacco use) in the population of interest at a particular period. The initial population represents the initial year in population projections. For example, the initial population could be the distribution of individuals in the U.S. population by sex, age, race and tobacco use status for year 2000. An example of data associated with the initial population is prevalence of tobacco product us by sex, age, time since cessation. These data are typically estimated from population survey representative of the U.S. population, and they tabulated based on sex, age and race (can these variables be the key variables in a CDISC sense?).Example data for modeling in progress
